CV 2017

FBprofilePIC.jpg
A Bachelor of Fine Arts Graduate of the University of the Philippines - Cebu, practicing in the surrealist style of painting and continually reinventing with different embellishments ranging from different genres and the contemporary movement.
Career-wise, I’ve transported my skills from product development in fashion accessories and handicrafts, to promotional products and graphic design with a focus on branding and corporate marketing- communications. Currently, I'm working closely in marketing with a focus on sales development, managing a team of graphic designers that support strategic pursuits.
On the flip side, I’ve worked on various initiatives in the music and art scene either as a participant, an organizer, or a support crew. My efforts range from graphic design, motion graphics, and musical scoring, to video production. The latter of which has reawakened my passion for video/digital film production.

Most recently, I’ve come to dip my hands in the corporate arena as a content creator directing/producing corporate AVPs, advertorials or video presentations, and other independent engagements.

Branders.com is a Promotional Products company based in the USA with most of its operations running here in the Philippines. After six straight months as Team Lead, I moved to operations starting with the Art Department as this was my forte. Eight months down the line, Branders opened up operations for the UK. With my experience both in Account management and Art Dept., I was tasked to pilot this project doing Art Work and logistical management as an

ONDA BUTTON SELLING PHILS.
Product designer/ graphic designer/ design supervisor/ photographer
June 2000 - August 2001 (1 year, 2 months)
Product evaluation and value analysis are one of the key components in designing new products. As such, I carefully supervise a team of sample makers that make our prototypes, making sure that all is followed starting from product specifications to design aesthetics down to schedule for production.
One of the major contributions I did during my stay is the upgrading of the design office with computers. Initiating graphics design in product/industrial design to facilitate more accurate and precise measurements for production. To maximize design output, I customized textures and color swatches on this.

The introduction of the computer to the office also improved the archiving of designs. Whereas actual samples had to be kept in bulky boxes back then, also running the risk of losing design archives(actual samples). We then were able to replace them with pictures and accurate working drawings stored as data. This in turn improved our archive library to more than double. Even with no actual product sample, retrieval of design files from the computers ensured the same quality and standard.

Computerization also facilitated easier documentation of products through pictures which also created a new standard for marketing. Traditionally, buyers request bulky catalogs/booklets containing the actual samples. But with a new digital database of the products, we merely send them our latest e-brochures thru email. Further cutting expenses on the shipment of heavy catalogs. After successfully mapping out the computer integration in the design office. I trained each of my fellow designers on the new systems. Later on, production and sales divisions were already exploiting the ease of the new database.

INITIATIVES
  • Migration to the computer-aided design philosophy
  • Digitization of documentation and archives
  • Graphic design and layout for cataloging and marketing

THE FREEMAN NEWSPAPER

On my entry-level, I started out as a columnist for their Sunday youth page pullout Simply S where I wrote for a weekly column for the newspaper. After five months, the section got a new set of writers for the weekly and so I got absorbed with the Lifestyle section together with the Magazine. With my ample experience in art photography, the daily news section got me to do photos also for their beats. But being a writer in the Lifestyle and Magazine pages posed a juggling act to reckon, especially when news assignments got in. Henceforth I settled to do both photos & writing exclusively for the Lifestyle section.
